Rachel Auty | Creative Strategist and Consultant
Rachel is a marketing leader, brand and communications strategist with a rare combination of skills and experience.
She has worked for 27+ years in marketing, communications and events, boasting formal qualifications in marketing, management, leadership, and coaching.
She is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, an award-winning beer writer, holds a degree in Fine Art, and is a creative and entrepreneurial thinker.
She has worked extensively as a consultant and in-house head of department across arts and culture - including festivals, theatre, visual arts and exhibitions, and live events. She also boasts an extensive portfolio in hospitality, with a specific niche for the UK beer industry and community-owned pubs.
This rare breadth of cross-industry marketing, business and charity/ not-for-profit experience enables Rachel to bring fresh and unconventional strategic thinking to client projects to deliver impact, drive positive change and build resilience.
In addition to her consultancy work, Rachel founded beer equality social enterprise, Women On Tap CIC in 2017 to celebrate women in beer and tackle discrimination in the industry. In 2021 she was awarded Fellowship of the Royal Society of Arts (RSA) for her activism work.
Rachel also has board-level experience. Since 2023 she has served as a board director at the British Guild of Beer Writers (BGBW) and in 2026 she joined York Museums and Enterprises (YME) as a trustee.
Rachel is based in Harrogate, North Yorkshire. She works across the UK and internationally.
